Participation medals were made from bronze and were given to athletes and officials.
Two separate octagon-shaped medals, one in English and one in Korean, featured an ancient horseman on front and the signatures of International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch and organizing committee president Park Seh-jik between logo with Olympic stadium below and were given to volunteers and the press.
