Spun aluminum with an antique brass finish torch with leather handle made up of three pieces sewn together. Antiqued aluminum top with Olympic rings and Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius" on upper rim. Los Angeles Memorial Colisem peristyle, the site of both the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games, below. Aluminum ring in center of leather handle with "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984." The emblem of the Los Angeles 1984 Games on base of handle. 22.2 inches high.

Gina Hemphill and Bill Thorpe Jr., respectively the granddaughter and grandson of Jesse Owens and Jim Thorpe, ran the first kilometer of the Los Angeles 1984 torch relay in the United States together.
