This series of Olympic torches is a complete collection of official Olympic torches beginning with the first torch relay at the Olympic Games Berlin 1936 and ending with the most recent Games the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. The Crawford Family donated their complete collection of Olympic torches to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee in August 2018. This is the first opportunity to view the collection, which will later be loaned to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. The first relay, covered by radio, television and film, was such a huge success that every Olympic Games thereafter incorporated it. The Olympic Winter Games torch relay began with Oslo 1952. Most Olympic relays start in Ancient Olympia. Each Olympic torch is unique in its own way; designs often incorporate elements indicative of the region or host country.
