Front: In center of crystal glass, Olympic rings over Alpine landscape in the background in gradation, giving the impression of perspective. Games emblem on intagliated laurel branch above with legend in French and English, "Albertville 92 XVIes Jeux Olympiques D'Hiver -- XVI Olympic Winter Games."

Back: Decorative motif is intagliated in the crystal. The lines symbolize the mountains. Sport event is engraved at bottom of reverse.

Ribbon: White grosgrain with Olympic colors.

American Donna Weinbrecht won the first freestyle skiing gold medal awarded at an Olympic Winter Games when she won women's moguls.
More Info:
For the first time in Olympic history the prize medals were made from Lalique crystal. Each medal was handmade and completed in meticulous stages by 35 different people and set in gold, silver or bronze.
