More Info:
Front of prize medals were redesigned to reflect more of the Greek history and revival of the Olympic Games in 1896. Nike is no longer seated but flying in the center of the Panathinaikos stadium in Athens where the first modern Olympic Games took place.
The back of the prize medals is comprised of three elements: the eternal flame lit in Olympia, the opening of Pindar's Eighth Olympic Ode composed in 460 BC honoring Alkimedon of Aegina's victory in wrestling and the emblem of the Olympic Games Athens 2004.
